On May 22-23, 2023, the "Summer Dream" Art Festival - Dialogue with the Master Series and the double solo exhibition of the famous Italian art master Lorenzo Chinich and the international contemporary artist Zhu Wei will be held at the Li Zhengdao Science and Art Center of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. The event was jointly organized by the Lee Zhengdao Science and Art Center, the Youth League Committee, the Education Foundation of the University of Science and Technology, and the Student Affairs Office.
The Lee Jung-Dao Science and Art Center's Dialogue with Masters Art Festival for UAS teachers and students started in 2017, and this festival is the first time to meet with teachers and students after being suspended for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this series of activities, we see two different artists, different cultural backgrounds, in the pursuit of different core artistic values collision, dialogue, integration. Hkust teachers and students not only in the lecture with the master's son Francesco. Chinich conducted a colorful dialogue, and also felt the dialogue and collision of the two artists at the exhibition, we are very much looking forward to their new language, new sparks, and new heights.
In the world art history of Italy, there are a large number of outstanding artists who have made irreplaceable contributions to the development of human art. Today, the teachers and students of UCAS have the honor to appreciate the style of the works of modern Italian artists, and personally experience how this artist directly transforms his mind into artistic expression without any superfluous technology as a hindrance. This kind of directness is what most contemporary Chinese "artists" do not possess. Art education in China is more of a technical education, and most become highly skilled craftsmen. As a result, the work lacks appeal, and few people can be as moving and powerful as the Italian artist's work. This face-to-face dialogue with the master, the students understand the past and present of world art with an international height and vision, which greatly improves the cognition and understanding of teachers and students.

Professor Zhu Wei is an international contemporary artist familiar to the teachers and students of HKUST. Due to his Eastern cultural background and decades of travel to the West, his works are already the result of the collision, dialogue and integration of Eastern and Western cultures. It is worth mentioning that in the works of this exhibition, we can also see Professor Zhu Wei's latest work "Gengzi Memory", which takes small houses as the starting point to show that during the epidemic period, people are forced to shut themselves in small houses built by themselves, unable to contact with the beautiful nature and unable to communicate between people. To make the relationship between man and man, between man and nature, suddenly so precious, is exactly what human beings need to reflect on themselves. In this double solo exhibition, we can more clearly appreciate Professor Zhu Wei's pursuit in art and his real contribution to the integration of Eastern and Western cultures.

Mr. Li Zhengdao is the world's top physicist and Nobel Prize winner. He put forward the theory of the integration of science and art with his whole life. He believes that science and art are two sides of the same coin. This "Summer Dream" Art festival - Dialogue with Masters series of activities aims to further deepen teachers and students' understanding of art, improve their artistic accomplishment, and open the door of artistic perceptual thinking for science and engineering students who are good at scientific and rational thinking. It is an in-depth practical activity to carry out the theory of science and art integration proposed by Mr. Li Zhengdao. It is another supplement to the teaching concept of the integration of science and education of the University of Science and Technology, which not only improves the artistic accomplishment and humanistic feelings of the students, but more importantly, applies the creative thinking mode of the art masters in learning and scientific research, and trains more creative world-class scientists for our country.
